News Extract

The following is an extract from the Malta Business Weekly dated 2-8 September 1999:

"Technoline Ltd the local medical and laboratory technology firm, has been recommended for the award of most of the equipment procurement of the new National Laboratory, the company director Simon Cusens told The Malta Business Weekly. The National Laboratory in Valletta, will be set up next year and it will introduce new methods and procedures in metrology, food and beverage analysis, quality testing and quality assurance. The National Laboratory is expected to cost the Malta Standardisation Authority, which is responsible for the setting up of this lab, around Lm 1.2m. This project is being co-financed by the European Union after a call by tenders published simultaneously in all European countries. Mr. Cusens said that Technoline Ltd will be providing the National Laboratory with most of the equipment necessary for the operation of this laboratory. It has been recommended that the contract is awarded to Technoline Ltd and the Company is awaiting final confirmations. In being awarded this prestigious contract Technoline Ltd managed to beat the 20 bidders which included 10 foreign companies. The Company is expected to start providing the equipment to the National Laboratory as from two months' time. "We consider this contract as a very prestigious one, the best deal we ever had since the procurement of the equipment during the setting up of St. Phillip's Hospital," said Mr Cusens."
